What is the Premier's Awards ceremony?
The Premier’s Awards for outstanding college graduates honour the important social and economic contribution that graduates make to Ontario and throughout the world. The awards were launched in 1992 and are administered by Colleges Ontario, the advocacy voice for the province’s 24 colleges.
Many of Ontario’s greatest contributors have a solid foundation in post-secondary education. The awards highlight some of these great builders, thinkers and leaders who have graduated from Ontario’s colleges and contributed in significant ways to the country’s economic prosperity and success.
Selected graduates will be recognized for outstanding achievement in areas including health care innovation, science, technology, engineering and math innovation, community impact, cultural and creative achievement, entrepreneurship and economic development, francophone outreach and workforce and skilled trades achievement. From these Premier’s Awards recipients, eight graduates, one in each category, will be chosen to receive the Award of Excellence.
Award categories
Changemaker
Recognizes college and polytechnic graduates whose leadership or innovative approach creates transformative impact. This may include contributions that span multiple sectors or redefine traditional boundaries.

Entrepreneurship and Economic Development
Celebrates college and polytechnic graduates who drive economic growth, innovation, and enterprise. This may include business ventures, industry advancement, or other initiatives that create opportunity and long-term resilience.

Community Impact
Recognizes college and polytechnic graduates who improve quality of life and contribute to stronger, more inclusive communities. This may include leadership, service, or initiatives that address social, economic or community needs.

Cultural and Creative Achievement
Honours college and polytechnic graduates whose creativity and cultural contributions inspire others and influence communities. This may include work in arts, media, design, or other forms of creative expression.

Health Care Innovation
Celebrates college and polytechnic graduates who are improving health care accessibility, strengthening frontline services and driving medical innovation or public health infrastructure. Their contributions build resilient health systems that support the long-term well-being of communities.

Workforce and Skilled Trades Achievement
Recognizes college and polytechnic graduates who strengthen the workforce through skills development, training, or industry contributions. This may include work in skilled trades, technical
fields, or workforce initiatives.

Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Innovation
Honours college and polytechnic graduates who apply STEM knowledge to solve problems and drive progress. This may include research, technology, engineering solutions, or innovation across sectors.

Francophone Outreach
Celebrates college and polytechnic graduates who support and strengthen francophone communities. This may include leadership, advocacy, or initiatives that promote engagement and opportunity.
