Scott Oakman exemplifies community service and recreation leadership. As the executive director and CEO of the Greater Toronto Hockey League, he has led a campaign to make the sport safer, inclusive and more enjoyable for the young men and women who are drawn to it. He has pioneered groundbreaking concussion education, research and guideline development. Oakman has also worked with the Respect Group to roll out parent education to reduce bullying, harassment and discrimination. He is an award-winning amateur hockey referee who was inspired by his fellow college students and instructors to use recreation to make lives better.
