Elizabeth Lorusso has dedicated her career to advocating for patient safety, embracing technological advancements and educating future health-care technicians. In 2014, she conducted innovative research looking at the viability of reducing radiation dose levels in X-rays. The results of her study, published in the Journal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences, shows that advanced digital imaging technology no longer requires the same quantity of radiation as film-based X-ray images. Since publishing her work, Lorusso has become a popular presenter on the topic. EHer research will ultimately benefit patient safety by reducing the required dose of radiation while maintaining high-quality medical imaging.
